Art Opening and DJ Set— Monica Campana

About –

Come celebrate the art opening party for new work by Monica Campana, along with a DJ set of some of her favorite records.

Monica Campana’s work emerges from the layered experiences of migration, displacement, and resilience. Born in Peru, she moved to the United States as a teenager, carrying with her the memory of assimilation as survival and the deep longing for belonging. Street art became her first tool for making sense of this new landscape. She later founded Living Walls, The City Speaks, a nonprofit public art organization that uses art as a catalyst for social change.

Her practice now spans illustration and ceramics, where she returns to art-making as an act of grounding and reconnection, with herself, the universe, and with her Ancestors. She holds on to memory as a form of resistance in a world that continues to erase and attack her people’s right to exist. Through her work, she explores identity, colonization, and depression, not only as personal reckonings but also as collective wounds that demand healing.

For Campana, art is medicine: a practice of remembering where we come from, resisting, and creating new possibilities for belonging.
