Tonight we pay tribute to Stevie Wonder, born Stevland Hardaway Morris - May 13, 1950. American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer, known for his influence on pop and rhythm-and-blues in the 1970s. Wonder's music blends elements of soul, funk, rock, jazz, reggae, Broadway, and African styles. His distinctive voice, melodic talent, and complex arrangements have contributed to his enduring appeal. Wonder is also a dedicated social activist who has fought for civil and human rights.
Quite possibly one of the most pioneering musicians this planet has ever seen, Stevie Wonder has an artistic intuition like no one else. Though he lost his sight shortly after birth, his creative vision was clear, and with a natural musical flair, he quickly went on to become a Motown child prodigy. Following record-breaking hits in the 1960s (he topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart at age 13 with his single “Fingertips”), Wonder’s real critical success developed in the 1970s with album releases including Talking Book, Innervisions, Music Of My Mind and, of course, Songs In The Key Of Life.
